On May 30th, Hao Ping, vice minister of education visited
CIKU, and he was warmly welcomed by vice chancellor of KU, teachers and
students of CI. He greeted Chinese and foreign staff at CI and spoke highly
of students’ attitude towards learning Chinese and their Chinese
Proficiency. Then vice minister talked with KU vice chancellor and CI
staff in the meeting, he pointed out that there has been a long history
of good-neighborly relations between the two countries in recent years
and cooperation in education has made breakthrough progress. He also suggested
that forum for China-Nepal university presidents should be held during
the Chinese festival in Nepal, and KU VC agreed and indicated that KU
is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China to run Confucius
Institute well, and make a contribution to Chinese language teaching and
cultural transmission. CI also reported to vice minister the development
strategy and present measures taken by CI, which was spoke highly by vice
minister.
Vice minister’s visit to CIKU is significant in promoting cultural
exchanges and educational cooperation between China and Nepal, raising
the influence and fame of CIKU.
