The newly appointed ambassador of the People’s
Republic of China to Nepal, H. E. Mr. Wu Chuntai visited the Kathmandu
University and held talks with the Registrar of the University, Prof.
Dr. Bhadraman Tuladhar. The talks focused on strengthening the co-operation
between the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kathmandu
and Kathmandu University. During the meeting, Prof Dr Tuladhar thanked
the Ambassador for the help KU has been receiving from the Embassy. After
the meeting, HE Wu Chuntai visited the Confucius Institute at the Kathmandu
University and stressed on the need to promote Chinese language in Nepal.
He expressed that language can help bring the peoples of both countries
even closer. Prof Dr Wang Shengli, the Chinese director of CIKU and Mr
Trailokya Raj Aryal, Nepali Director of CIKU briefed the ambassador on
the activities and the development plan of the Institute. Mr Zhang Bing
of the culture section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of
China and Dr Harishchandra Shah of the China-Nepal Study Association accompanied
the ambassador.
