The support from the Kathmandu University to Confucius Institute
 
 

Since March 28th when the Vice-Chancellor of KU, Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha met Chinese Director of CIKU and agreed the working plan, the Registrar, Prof. Dr. Bhadra Man Tuladhar have met Chinese director on April 1st , 10th and 15th respectively. He guided and offered strong support to the work as follows: 1.further cooperation and normative financial management. 2.writing a letter to Hanban Headquaters to express the strong desire to continue strengthening the cooperation and appreciate the work the new Chinese director has done. 3.inviting the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal to give a lecture at CIKU. 4.establishing 2013 scholarship selection committee and making decision to offer a farewell party when the scholarship winners leave for China. 5.erecting the TV antenna on the roof of CIKU, which makes Chinese teachers and students watch Chinese program conveniently. 6. Taking part in the implementation plan of “Core Teacher at CIKU”. 7. Assigning Mr. Aryal to participate the training program for foreign directors held in Xiamen University in July. 8. Prof. Dr. Bhadra Man Tuladhar will attend the Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes in Asia held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. 9. Coordinate the visit of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences to CIKU. 10. Chinese Language is included in the compulsory course of School of Arts of KU, and so on. Besides, Prof. Dr. Bhadra Man Tuladhar showed the photos of the activities held by CIKU that he attended on the wall of his office, showing his close attention to CIKU.
In recent years, Kathmandu University provides offices, classrooms, conference hall for CIKU, and hostels for volunteer teachers. The vice-chancellor, registrar attended and coordinated for the activities held by CIKU regularly. The continuous attention to the work of CIKU is also the result of the integration of Confucius Institute into KU and the effort from both sides.
