KATHMANDU, March 18 (Xinhua) -- A group of students
studying Chinese language in Kathmandu University(KU) Confucius Institute
visited five different Chinese aided works in Nepal on Sunday.
With the aim of familiarizing more than 50 Nepali students to the assistance
that China is providing in Nepal, the Confucius Institute took the students
for visiting different places inside the capital Kathmandu Valley.
At the beginning of the tour the students went to China aided "
Civil Service Hospital", then to the Birendra International Convention
Center (BICC), then to the national stadium maintained by China, after
that National Ayurvedic Research and Training Institute and finally to
the Sports Complex.
The students seemed excited as for many of them it was their first visit
to the places where neighboring China had provided such a huge assistance
to Nepal.
Talking to Xinhua on Sunday, Mr.Zhang Shubin, Chinese teacher from Confucius
Institute at Kathmandu University said that the major theme of taking
students for the visit is to make them familiar with the Chinese development
cooperation in Nepal.
"So many students do not know anything about how China is supporting
Nepal in many sectors so we organized the program," said Shubin.
He added that the students now are more eagerly learning Chinese language
which is further enhancing the friendship between the two nations.
"China has been helping Nepal for its development projects for
the economic development in the country," he added.
Rabindra G.C. who has been learning Chinese language at the Confucius
Institute for last five months told Xinhua that China has helped Nepal
in various development areas and Nepal should maintain those.
Similarly, Sabrina Shahi who is planning to purse her engineering degree
in Shangdong University in China and now studying Chinese language told
that she felt really good at knowing the Chinese assistance.
"I am feeling good to visit places of Chinese development cooperation
to get familiar with it and to know about the Chinese assistance,"
she added.
The first agreement between China and Nepal on Economic Aid' was signed
in October 1956, ever since China has been providing various kinds of
financial and technical assistance to Nepal enhancing the development.
From mid-90s, the Chinese government has been pledging grant assistance
to the Government of Nepal under the Economic and Technical Cooperation
program in order to implement mutually agreed development projects.
