Nepali students enjoy visiting Chinese aided development facilities in Nepal
 
 

KATHMANDU, March 18 (Xinhua) -- A group of students studying Chinese language in Kathmandu University(KU) Confucius Institute visited five different Chinese aided works in Nepal on Sunday.

With the aim of familiarizing more than 50 Nepali students to the assistance that China is providing in Nepal, the Confucius Institute took the students for visiting different places inside the capital Kathmandu Valley.

At the beginning of the tour the students went to China aided " Civil Service Hospital", then to the Birendra International Convention Center (BICC), then to the national stadium maintained by China, after that National Ayurvedic Research and Training Institute and finally to the Sports Complex.

The students seemed excited as for many of them it was their first visit to the places where neighboring China had provided such a huge assistance to Nepal.

Talking to Xinhua on Sunday, Mr.Zhang Shubin, Chinese teacher from Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University said that the major theme of taking students for the visit is to make them familiar with the Chinese development cooperation in Nepal.

"So many students do not know anything about how China is supporting Nepal in many sectors so we organized the program," said Shubin.

He added that the students now are more eagerly learning Chinese language which is further enhancing the friendship between the two nations.

"China has been helping Nepal for its development projects for the economic development in the country," he added.

Rabindra G.C. who has been learning Chinese language at the Confucius Institute for last five months told Xinhua that China has helped Nepal in various development areas and Nepal should maintain those.

Similarly, Sabrina Shahi who is planning to purse her engineering degree in Shangdong University in China and now studying Chinese language told that she felt really good at knowing the Chinese assistance.

"I am feeling good to visit places of Chinese development cooperation to get familiar with it and to know about the Chinese assistance," she added.

The first agreement between China and Nepal on Economic Aid' was signed in October 1956, ever since China has been providing various kinds of financial and technical assistance to Nepal enhancing the development.

From mid-90s, the Chinese government has been pledging grant assistance to the Government of Nepal under the Economic and Technical Cooperation program in order to implement mutually agreed development projects.
