On Mar. 14 and 15, 2012, at the invitation of NATHM (Nepal
Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management), CIKU teachers gave a lecture
on the Chinese Language as a compulsory course in NATHM. More than 80
students majored in tourism and hotel management attended the lecture.
Mr. Zhang Shubin, CIKU Chinese teacher highlighted the significant position
of China and Chinese language in both Nepal and the world with the brief
introduction of CIKU and of the China Aid projects such as Kathmandu Ring
Road, BICC ,Civil Service Hospital, B.P. Koilara Cancer Hospital , National
Ayurveda Research and Training Center which are built by Chinese government
as gifts to Nepali people. He illustrated the reason why there a rapid
increasing demand for Chinese language learning in Nepal and encouraged
the students to work hard to study in China with Confucius Institute Scholarship.
The Chinese volunteer teacher, Miss Yani Yao showed the outline and the
way of Chinese Language teaching, and encouraged the students to learn
not only the language itself but more about Chinese culture, which can
widen their horizon and is beneficial to their future.
Mr. Prem Raj Joshi, Executive Director of NATHM and Mr. Krishna Kharel,
head of Department of Tourism, expressed their sincere thanks to the Chinese
teachers’ lecture and hope more and more students at NATHM can take
Chinese language course.
