An Analysis and Appreciation of Chinese 
                Opera, Classic Songs

              Teachers from Confucius Institute hosted an Analysis 
                and Appreciationi of Chinese Opera, Classic songs with the presence 
                of more than 40 persons including teachers and students from Confucius 
                Institute, International Language College, Chinese lovers like 
                a Japanese girl and Korean boy, and even Chinese travellers and 
                businessmen. 
              Mr. Shang Liwei introduced briefly the Chinese 
                Opera and the characters in it, then Mrs. Zhang and a Volunteer 
                Chinese teacher sang Beijing Opera Transfer of Susan from a Prison 
                in HongTong County,regional operas like Lady Son-in-Law of the 
                Emperorin Anhui Province and Hua Mulang in HeNan Pronvince, while 
                listening to folk songs like The Scenery of Dali in March,and 
                music by traditional Musical instruments.
              The students showed great interest in opera and 
                especially of the opera faces that we made up on the spot, which 
                made the atomsphere quite enthusiastic. 
              With the introduction and appreciation Chinese 
                opera and folk songs, students know more about Chinese culture 
                and language, which enhanced their passion for learning Chinese. 
                An Analysis and Appreciation of Chinese Poems will be held in 
                the following Saturday.
