Olympic Day Run in Rain

(CIKU, June 23) Nepal Olympic Committee organized a long distance run today. Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency, Mr. Zheng Xianglin, Minister of Education, Mr. Pradip, and Sports men from all fields attended the event. Two teachers from Confucius Institute are invited by the President of Nepal Olympic Committee to participate in the event.

The run started from the National Stadium and stopped at the Durbar Square, covering more than 2 kilometers. His Excellency, Mr. Zheng Xianglin finished all the run in the drizzle, which expressed wordlessly his love and support for Beijing Olympic Games. After the run, he delivered a speech, in which he emphasized the significance of Olympic and told us formally that the Olympic Torch has already been put on the Peak, the Everest that is shared by the two neighbour countires.

Every year on Olympic Day, the National Olympic Committee organizes a run. Olympic Games will be held this year in Beijing, so Vice President, Mr. Sita Ram Maskey invited two teachers from Confucius Institute to participate in. It is the first time that Chinese People are invited to run on Olympic Day in Nepal, which shows Nepali people's support for Beijing Olympic and their good will.

After contacts for several times, teachers from Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University will offer a special Crash Course for Nepalese athletes, coaches, and officers who are going to Beijing in August to take part in Olympic Games. This is one of Chinese teachers' efforts in supporting Beijing Olmypic Games .
