In order to promote a better understanding
and develop friendship between China and other countries, to improve
the exchanges in international economy, education, science and
technology, and culture, the Chinese Government attached great
importance to overseas Chinese teaching, and founded in 1987 ¡°the
Office of Chinese Language Council International¡±.
Chinese Hanban is the executive
body of the Office of Chinese Language Council International,
and it is affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China. In
order to develop friendly relationship between China and other
countries, to promote better understanding of Chinese language
and Culture among the people of the world, and to provide overseas
Chinese learners convenient and excellent learning conditions,
the Chinese Language Council International establishes Confucius
Institute aiming at developing Chinese teaching as the major activity
in some countries of the world where Chinese is in need and might
be available.
Chinese Language Council
International, In accordance with the local situation, will provide
the overseas Confucius Institutes with cooperation and support
facilities including: dispatch a certain number of teachers to
teach, provide fund for the organization of Chinese teaching and
the promotion of certain activities set up the teaching pattern
and teaching courses, authorize the copyright from the headquarters
of multi-media courseware, the teaching materials, auxiliary materials,
video materials and internet courses, and provide training in
terms of the management and the teaching pattern of the Institutes.
In 2005, the Office of the Chinese Language Council International
authorized formally the Confucius Institute, and started the new
Logo of the Institute. The new logo adopts the combination of
the flying peace dove and the Earth, and the two pictures compose
a changed Chinese character han .The logo implies Globe Chinese
Peace and Rise at four levels, symbolizing the idea of establishment
of the Confucius Institute.
