November 11, 2009, Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University held the opening ceremony of 1th Chinese-Language-Training Program for Teachers in Nepal Public Schools, collaborating with National Centre for Educational Development Nepal. The Ambassador, Mr. Qiu Guohong from Chinese Embassy in Nepal attended the opening ceremony and gave a inspiring speech. He says, “the teachers’ training program is a good start to solve the shortage of Chinese language talents in Nepal and I hope there will be more and more such programs to meet the increasing needs of Nepali friends learning Chinese language.

The trainees of this program are all primary school teachers from public schools. During the 10 months training, Nepal National Center for Education Development take Chinese language as an important course in the whole training plan. Although the trainees are of different age, their enthusiasm is very high and they all expected to learn to be qualified Chinese language teachers in the future.
