Bidding Farewell to the Nepalese Delegation of Athletes

(CI at KU, August 3rd, 2008) On August 2nd, Chinese Embassy held a banquet to send off the Nepalese Delegation of Athletes. His excellency, Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Zheng Xianglin, Minister of Education and P.E of Nepal, Mr. Pradip, President of Nepal Olympic Committee, Mr. Dhruba Bar Pradhan,Vice Presidents, Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, and Mr. Sita Ram Maskey, coaches and athletes attended the banquet. Having taught them Chinese for one month, two teachers from CI at KU were invited to the banquet.

His Excellency, Mr. Zheng Xianglin welcomed the Delegation to participate in the 29th Olympic Games in Bejing on behalf of Chinese People. He said Nepal and China are good neighbours and good friends. He congratulated beforehand the athletes' good performance and suggested that the delegation should pay a visit the Pagoda White Temple constructed by Arniko,a Nepalese architect.

President of Nepal Olympic Committee, Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha forwarded his gratitude to Chinese Embassy and also teachers from CI. He said the friendship between China and Nepal can be dated far back. The free Chinese course Confucius Institute offered is a symbol of the friendship.He expressed his appreciation of the efforts that Chinese teachers have made.

Just on August 1st, the Olympic Chinese class came to an end. Vice Present, Mr. Sita Ram Maskey held a completion Ceremony. He expressed his appreciation to teachers from CI. Mr. Shang Liwei expressed it is one of the obligations of Confucius Institute to promote Chinese culture and languge. As a citizen from China, the country to undertake 29th Olympic Games, we feel honored to have this precious opportunity to teach Chinese to the Delegation. He expressed on behalf of CI the best wishes to athletes.presented a banner on which "Hello Beijing" was written as a respond to "Beijing Welcomes You", with which the athletes will greet Beijing when entering into the Bird Nest.

The Delegation is to leave for Beijing on August 4th, and stay at Olympic Village from August 5th. While staying in Beijing, the Delegation will pay a visit to Leader of Beijing. Upon that occasion, they will sing a Chinese song: Asian Power.
